5 weeks 4 days

Well, we meant to post every week, but look how time escapes us! A lot has happened in the past couple of weeks....My dad and his wife Rose came to meet Jasper. It was also the first time they have been to our house since we bought it. Jasper met his future uncle...Neda came for a day visit with Michael after announcing their engagement. My friend, Denise, came out from L.A. for a long weekend. Nick went to the city while she was here and spent time with his friends - including Diego - who is almost six months old, a very different baby experience from our son at his current age. Denise was an immense help, she just jumped right in and made food, did laundry, played with Jasper and of course, kept me company. We went on several outings with Jasper. I got a glimpse of how life can be normal after baby!

Jasper continues to grow. Each day or rather, each morning at 4am when he wakes up hungry and fussy from gas, I cannot believe how much he's changed since the day before. He's started to take interest in the outside world. He spends a little more time awake and alert. I lay him under his play gym and set up black and white art cards to his right and left and he stares contentedly above and turns his head from side to side looking at the bear, lion or whatever picture we've placed next to him. He can be left entertained like that for up to 10 minutes, enough time to get dressed, pee and brush teeth. We started massaging him before bed, and he seemed to have better nights as a result. He also loves being in the water, so we try to give him a bath followed by a massage as part of a bedtime routine. Lucky baby!

My friend, Amy is coming to visit with her son Soren and husband Robin this week from Baltimore. She came up with Soren when he was 8 weeks before Jasper was born. I can't wait to see how much he's grown.

Check out more pictures of Jasper. And soon to come, a slide show of before and afters (or so fars) of our house..particularly the kitchen.
